Clearing Debris

An easy way to keep your artificial grass looking pristine is by regularly picking up large pieces of debris. We aren’t just talking about the leaves; this includes fallen tree bark. In the autumn, leaves turn color and fall. It is a beautiful sight until you see your yard is a mess. To clear the leaves and other debris away, use a rake to collect them together and remove them from your artificial grass. There are rakes made especially for synthetic turf, but any rake made of metal or bamboo works just fine. Using a push broom would also be an effective way of collecting and removing large debris from your lawn. We recommend staying away from a leaf blower for this process because while it does make the work faster and easier, it can disturb the infill. 

Brushing

Over time, especially in areas where you have heavy foot traffic due to social events, roughhousing with the kids, or your pet rolling in the same spot, your artificial grass blades can become matted. This occurs more regularly in the fall due to rain and the falling of leaves. We recommend cross brushing your artificial turf every month or so to fluff up your grass fibers and maintain the upright position of each blade. It is highly recommended to always use a brush with synthetic bristles rather than metal bristles, as metal can damage the artificial grass fibers. By brushing your lawn regularly, you will not only be avoiding matting, but you will also extend the life of your synthetic turf product and cut down on the need for more extensive future maintenance. Watering & Rinsing

Want to get your water bill lower? Another advantage of an artificial grass installation is the ability to eliminate watering.  Unlike real grass, artificial turf products remain evergreen and the perfect height no matter how much or how little water they receive. However, occasional rinse-downs are strongly recommended to clear away dust, debris, and pet waste.  Rainfall is nature’s way to clean synthetic grass during the winter and spring. But in autumn and in climates that don’t receive much rain, just a quick rinse with the garden hose will work.  You won’t need to turn on the sprinklers for an hour straight anymore; unless you, the kids, and your furry friend want to jump in and run around for fun.  Simply take a couple of minutes to hose down your turf, and your lawn will be sufficiently clear of dust and other particles. 

Any significant home investment requires some level of care and maintenance to preserve your investment’s value.
